FAQ
What are the advantages of hiring a professional?
A professional wedding photographer will be timely - arriving at your event promptly, and getting the results to you on time. A professional has just the right equipment for photographing your wedding. Having attended many ceremonies, an experienced photographer will be at ease. A professional uses a laboratory that is in the business of meeting high professional standards of print quality. And, a professional is used to working with individuals, couples, and groups to make the formal photography go smoothly. When you think about the cost of photography, remember that the photographer’s fee is only part of your investment: You, your parents, your extended family and your friends will be investing time with the photographer during your wedding. Don’t waste time on your special day with a photographer who won’t produce results you love!
How much time will the photographer spend at my wedding?
That is really up to you. You can have the photographer meet you where you are getting dressed, and keep taking pictures until you leave the reception. Or you may just want a few hours of photography, with a few formal photographs and some pictures of the ceremony. Our typical coverage starts two or three hours before the ceremony and ends after the bouquet, garter and cake.
What about getting an album?
We offer “Packages”, with each package having a set number of hours, images, and certain number of final pictures in an album. It might be better to get a package that includes an album that the photographer will assemble completely, because most of us never get around to putting our pictures in albums if we have to do it ourselves. Consider ordering parents’ albums too. If your parents vision is less than perfect, they would really appreciate getting an album with large photographs so that the faces are easy to see!
Who chooses the pictures that go in the album?
Since 2000, the Magazine Album (also called Template Album, Table-top Album, Storybook Album) uses digital techniques to put more than one image on a page. We recommend that you have your professional oversee design and production of the album, since complete wedding photography is the combination of images captured on the event day and the final design, cropping, color correction and special effects that complement the initial images. If the bride and groom wish, we can provide images for them to choose from that will make up the album.
How many photographs will you take at my wedding?
As many as we possibly can. Professional photographers shoot a lot of images to get the best and most beautiful of your day. We don’t limit ourselves to how many photos we take. We’re there for you and will continue to shoot for the length of time we are with you. We burn all images after they’ve been edited by us, to a high-resolution DVD, which is included in all packages.
How far will you travel for my event?
We will go anywhere and have been all over. Mainly we service Edmonton and central Alberta but will travel throughout the world. Please email us for specific travel costs (if any).
What about resort weddings?
We love shooting resort weddings and we offer really awesome discounts on package prices for such events! Email us at info@magnasona.com for more information.
How far in advance should we book our photographer?
To get the date and the Photographer you want it’s necessary to book early, especially if you have a popular summer date. A year in advance is usually ample lead time.
We have a good idea of the “Visual Style” we’re looking for for our photographs, Can we give you suggestions or a list of poses we like?
We are always open to any suggestions you have and will do our best to give you the look you want in your images. Keep in mind that we will have a great visual database to draw from when we feel inspired to tell the unique story of you and your fiancé. The best work comes from good collaboration.
